Committee Meeting, March 19, 2019

The following were in attendance:

Bobby Bradford, Roger Brand, Barbara Gorman, Scott Gee, Sarah Blaesing, James Blaesing, Nicole John, Tara Hampton, Christine Peyroux, Mary Ellen Yeomans, Chris Hayden, Misty Wright,  Maureen Scoggin and Michele Salas

Reports:

  • Outings – Barbara Gorman
    • March 22 – 24 – Scout Challenge at Bert Adams
      9 scouts, 6 adults (2 crew members)
    • April 12 – 14 – New Scout Campout Allatoona Aquatics
      2 new scouts signed up.
    • June 16 – 22 – Summer Camp
      8 scouts, 1 adult (need another adult)
      Nicole John will reach out to the parents of new scouts regarding attending Summer Camp
      Cost: Scout $375 (BSA cost $340 + 2 t-shirts + transportation) Adults $165
    • May 25 – Flag Placement – Marietta National Cemetery
    • August 3 – tentative date for Scout picnic
    • Fall Merit Badge Clinic
  • Fundraising – Tara Hampton
    • Camp cards are available
      11 boys are selling camp cards.
      Camp cards and money need to be returned by April 15
    • Pine straw was spread at the church on Saturday, March 16.

  • Philmont – Mark Fulcher
    • We have 12 spots available
    • 3 scouts and 1 adult signed up to go to Philmont
    • Still looking scouts/adults to fill remaining spots
    • Prep hikes are in progress
    • Scott Gee will call Philmont to see if we can reduce the number of spots to eight or maybe even cancel our reservation.
    • Mary Ellen will inquire at District Meeting and at Scout Challenge this weekend)

    • Meetings
      • March 25 is a PLC Meeting at Kelli’s house at 7PM (only scouts with leadership roles need to attend)
      • April 1 – no meeting (Spring Break)
      • April 22 – no meeting

    • Eagle News
      • Micah Salas passed Eagle BOR on February 21, 2019
      • Gabe Daniel Eagle project completed and Eagle paperwork has been submitted
      • As of January 2019, the Eagle Project workbook has been updated.
      • Pedrojuan Solano’s Eagle ceremony on May 18, 2019

    • Pack 75 Crossover was on 2/25
      • Added 7 new Scouts (patrol: Dancing Hot Dogs)
      • New scout dues is $50.00 (cost covers neckerchief and badges)

    • Bylaw Changes
      • ‘M’ – Payments for OUTING fees are non-refundable. If a Scout cancels prior to any payments made by TROOP 75 for activities or lodging, the Scout might be reimbursed. If grub master has purchased food, there will be no refund for food. The Outing Coordinator and Committee will review the situation. If a Scout had indicated to pay for the event with his ‘Scout account’ funds and cancels his participation in an event, his scout account will be debited.
      • ‘N’ – ‘High Adventure’ trip fees: Initial deposit is non-refundable. If Scout/Adult cannot attend Scout/Adult must find a replacement crew member to cover his previous payments and outstanding fees or they forfeit their funds. Reimbursement are based on time of withdrawal.
      • ‘*’ – Receipts for reimbursement of items purchased for the Troop by adults must be turned in within three (3) months of purchase date.

    • NYLT – DJ, Ethan, Liam and Will are eligible to attend
      • Looking at attending last week in May or first week in June.
      • Scouts will need to complete Introduction to Leadership Skills for Troops (ILST)
        Christine will look into how/when the boys can complete this prior to NYLT
